Beard trimmer?

Hi guys (hopefully not one for the girls this one....!), can somebody recommend me a decent value beard trimmer that has different settings for the length (I guess like number 1,2 etc on hair trimmers)?

I'm after something longer than stubble, but when I leave it I begin to look like a cave man after a week or so!

If I decide I look a tw@t with 'cool' facial hair, looks like it'll be back to wet shaving....!

I use a babyliss istubble. Settings from 0.5mm to 15mm. I use it on 2mm on sides and 1mm on chin to get the two day old stubble look. Then repeat every 4 days or so. You can also run it through sideburns to blend head hair to facial hair. Haven't been clean shaven for about 5 years now. Easy to use and is rechargeable though the motor drains the power really quickly so I use it on the mains. And I think that is my gayest post ever!

I got I think it was a Braun from Argos for around £15, does the job nicely.

Lot's of entertainment to be had when keeping your's or your partners 'garden' trim!!

I've wondered about the Babyliss one too. Not sure with how sparse my stubble is whether I'd just look a twunt though.

Much to my employer's annoyance, I haven't been clean shaven for around 8 years now.

I've tried many different trimmers and always go back to Philips - all their models cut to the same standard, it's just that some have a vacuum or other useful features.

The reason I always use a Philips is that other trimmers seem to make me far more prone to ingrown hairs. I've no idea why.

One thing I always do it heat a muslin cloth up and give the beard area a good rub with it once I've used the trimmer. It gets all the little bits of trimmed hair off the skin and exfoliates the area too.

After many years of using a battery powered Philips it finaly physically broke & then I bought a (rechargeable) Remington Barba which had good reviews & I have found it very good although have only used it a few times. HTH
