Electrical help with 87 Sierra Cosworth
Discussion
I have an overheating problem with my Sierra Cosworth. I have diagnosed that the probkem is the plug that goes onto the temp sensor to the radiator. Any ideas if who between Folkestone and Islington where I will be able to get a new plug, perhaps even sensor. I am new to the UK and nit switched on with sourcing parts
Hi Mate,I would buy a Ford magazine and check out the specialists might be a better bet than Fords themselves, had this problem on my old 3 door cossie, the fans came on by themselves and fault was tr aced to the switch in the bottom of the rad,BUT i ended up having to replace the rad and switch as it was impossible to remove without damaging the rad.Good Luck.
motorsport development will get one in the post to you next day.

Its a common problem with the 3dr sierra and usually traces back to melted wires for the fan fuse in the main fusebox.
You can buy a new subloom to bypass the old wiring so that it does not happen again

As Paul has said MSD will sort you out however it is not the fuse that is the issue it is the fan relay as there is such a large current draw that it heats the loom around the relay in the Fuse box in the scuttle panel and this can and will melt the fuse box and associated wiring buy the alternate loom kit and heavy duty relays and while doing that rewire the fuel pump feeds as well as this is another weak point
