Hoping someone can help me with a bit of local knowledge. My Griff is currently at Austec in Crawley and needs to go to TVRPower in Coventry. It's not in a drivable state so must be taken on a lorry - not sure I trust a trailer?

Only quote I've had so far is from Austec at £500 which seems a huge cost to me. From google maps its about 2h 30mins and 140 miles.

Anyone got a recommendation?

If you advertise it on Shiply.com people will bid for the job and you can make your mind up who does it based on you checking their feedback from customers. I did it to get mine transported approx 150miles and I think it was in the region of £175 the user name of the guy who did it was petemgb3 and the service was excellent!
Hope this is of assistance.

Melvin at flyingbluedog@btopenworld.com. Uses a trailer but reliable and used to TVRs.

Just a quick bump - need to sort this in the coming week. Anyone got any experiences?

Wish Dom had his own man to do it really!

Dom put me in touch with a guy called "Suki" who they use. I cancelled in the end, so can't comment on service - but maybe worth a try?

When my Tuscan went up to Dom he sent his guy, can't remember his name but I think he runs the bodyshop. They only charged the cost of diesel.

Sort me out some diesel money and I'll do it.. I've got a truck and trailer and have to trailer my Chim to Austec (from Caterham) next weekend, then drive up to Northampton to go and pick up some bits from the paint shop. For some beer tokens I could swap my Chim for your Griff at Austec and then take it up to Dom (sort of) on the way to Northants. PM me if you're interested.

I'd suggest the cost is quite resonable, though the distance you've listed is one way the truck has to get to you, load up, deliver, unload & return back to where it came from. A good days work & a truck could easily consume £150 in diesel alone.

One of my best mates runs www.movemymotor.co.uk

He regularly moves priceless classics and specialises in low ground clearance cars. (special trailer).

If you are flexible with times/dates he can work your job into others which helps on price.

Thanks for that Martin. Always better to go with a recommendation than take a punt.

I should give Nick full credit where it is due! Forgot about this post as we had been emailing each other directly.

Nick picked up and delivered the car for me and although I paid him for his trouble it's an amazing gesture in my eyes, which saved me money and hassle!

The TVR community really is a wonderful place at times. Actually that reminds me, I need to chase Dom (again) and find out whats wrong with the old girl!
