Our recent outage got a mention in the Technology News website The Register

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/08/12/pistonhead...

Apparently we're all TVR-driving car geeks.

Desperate car geeks were forced to work, make a Victoria sponge and even talk to the wives, or so they claimed once the forum was back up and running

I didn't make a sponge or speak to the wife. I feel left out.

Glad my user details on here are completely false, looking at that.

IT bods complaining about TVR unreliability, that's a bit rich isn't it?

For the past few weeks I've been reading my mails and PH from my 'smart'phone because my company-provided desktop decided it didn't want to connect with my wireless network anymore which no amount of fettling, counseeling from IT bods or praying has been able to rectify yet.

Said 'smart'phone would demand a password for my work email every second and a half - which tended to interfere with minor things like answering a phone call - which several 'software updates' wouldn't sort, so I switched work email off. I can read my private amail account, but every time I try to reply to an email it returns an error.

Don't get me started about the work server or the website CMS I need to work with...

IME if it has critical functions that are software-based, you're fked.

My TVR OTOH, starts, turns and stops on demand and the only thing that fell off was the door mirror after it got knocked one too many times. I would gladly settle for TVR reliablity with everything else in life (including people) - to ask for Toyota reliability would be highly unrealistic. smile

I can give you my wife's mobile, if you want to talk to her. It could save me hours a day.
