Just come back from a 12K service and asked for the Oil pressure spring to be replaced, she is now running just over 40 PSI on start up which used to be 80. Is this correct of will she need to go back in again ?Have not check the oil level yet, will do that when its cooled down.

I personally wouldn't drive it if you'd lost 1/2 the oil pressure. Chances are that:

a) A different type of oil would not make that much difference

b) The gauge and sensor are still working as before so the reading is accurate

So, perhaps they changed the oil pressure spring for a broken/incorrect one? How's your oil pressure when it's warm? I had mine replaced and it now reads:

90 when cold
50 when warm
38 when overly warm (stuck in traffic for ages)

I know they're all different, but they shouldn't be a 50psi difference!

Just seems to be between 35 - 40 when warm, think need to give the dealer a ring Monday.

The pressure itself is fine, its the change that is worrying. However if the old spring was binding or even the wrong one then you could see a change in oil pressure.

When I picked up my cerb it had the wrong spring in it. It never dropped below 40 and never went above 60, however the spring was too short and the wrong stiffness, I've no idea where it came from.

Changing the spring to the correct one made the gauge a lot more lively.

Or they may have replaced the spring, and put a spacer on, as a new spring could have caused the pressure to be to high? When I changed mine a few weeks back, it had a spacer on it.

Having spoken to the dealer, they say the pressure was set up to the factory spec's and 50 PSI at cold is correct, anyway its in on Monday for an MOT and to have a double check on the pressure.
