Experience days recommendations?
Discussion
Hi,
My cousin is hitting the big 40 soon and his wife is thinking of a supercar day. I've seen the recs for 6th Gear but was wondering if there was a day that actually involved driving all day (even if in a lesser car) rather than having an instructor driving few laps then a handful in the flash car of choice? I had thought a day at a rally school might be a good alternative.
Any thoughts gladly received!
Cheers,
Rob

Just a STUNNING day out and incredible value.
The 'supercar experience' days are bit rubbish if you ask me if the person is actually into driving or has any previous track experience.
Palmersport isn't. Crazy fun for people of all abilities and experince.
half day options available as well now. Full day is DADDY though
Dont take my word for it though.... this is just one of MANY threads on how good it is

I did one at three Sisters in Wigan, was ok but wasnt allowed to change gear in the 360, the Instructor in the 996 Turbo was a bit more helpful and really let me throw it about, was even complimentary about my driving, the PASM does spoil the fun on track though. It gave me an insight and the realisation that the Ferrari didnt feel all that quick, felt like a big Fiat Coupe inside and the 996 kind of felt more like a posh, very fast Golf GTI, in character if not actual dynamics.
Few laps in each, not really a lot for the money but worth doing.

If you don't want to spend as much as Palmersport I can't recommend the Racing School at Rockingham highly enough.
I've done the Ferrari 360 experience and the missus did the Elise experience and really enjoyed it. Because the cars are owned by the company there is no issue with you using the full rev range and as they gain more confidence in you they encourage you to push the car harder.

Few years ago I took my pops over to Three Sisters race circuit, and it was great! They offer a few different varieties, but we did the MG ZRs followed by the single seaters, which were amazingly fast if a little difficult to get used to at first. Great fun though, mm's off the ground, screaming engine behind you, and only a single skin of fibreglass between your legs and the car/obstacle in front of you!! Real racing

+1 for the Palmersport full day session if you can stretch to it.
I was at the Bedford Autodrome yesterday (first time for a couple of years) and it was just the mutt's nuts. The JP-LM two-seater and single-seat Formula Jaguar are simply outrageous - 250+ bhp with a paddle-shift box on a slightly damp track....doesn't get better than that! Caterham Superlights and the 911s are a hoot too.
