There I was, browsing PH as normal, but there was a subtle difference - I had to press 'Back' twice to return to What's New. "hmm", I thought, "I wonder why that is as whenver i happens the ad in the top right says 'Page cannot be displayed'". Imagine my horror when I pressed back once, then hovered the mouse over forward to see where it went.

I know there is no PH without advertising, but is using a service like doubleclick.net really the way to go?
Fans of ad-aware will know doubleclick.net cookies as it deletes them for being data miners, a type of spyware.

Sorry for the problem with delivery of the banner. I will investigate that.

Could you elaborate on your concerns about use of Doubleclick? All ad servers use tracking cookies so if there's something different about Doubleclick that I'm not aware of then I'd be interested to know.

If you search for 'doubleclick' on Google, most of the results are sites talking about doubleclick being spyware. They've even had a complaint against them brought up before the Federal Trade Commission

I'll look into which ad is being served by Doubleclick and get back to you. I think opting out of Doubleclick served ads may create some issues for me but I appreciate your concerns.
