Apologies for being crude, but reading that initially sounded like you'd had a w
k and had therefore decided to take a rather lengthy drive!
More seriously, hope your dad is ok and good luck with the drive. OH's relatives live in Holywell so have done the trip a number of times. Some great stretches of the A34 if you time it right!

When you get to the end of the M6 toll take junction 12 off the M6 then take very nice A41 road to Chester, (A5 for 2 miles) then A41 for 60 miles good road with few nice roundabouts along the way and only a few frustrating bits, on good run = same time as M6 or less if lucky. And add another get well soon to your dad.

Please dont do this today, as according to radio 2, there are problems on the 41
