Mortgage oddness
Discussion
Anyone else seen this, struck me as massively odd?
Our 5 year fixed term agreement has expired so we're re-mortgaging with another fixed term agreement.
So myself n the Missus are on the deeds to the property and are paying for the loan.
On the legal bumph there's the question:
"If there is anyone living in the property who will be 17 or over when the term finishes please provide details and contact information as we'll need to write to them for consent of the remortgage before we can proceed.
We have a 15 year old (16 in October), WTF has our mortgage got to do with him, he's not old enough to give consent to anything anyway, if we ever had problems repaying the loan would they go after his pocket-money?
Don't understand the motive.

Its down to repossession.
Your 15 year old will be signing to say that should you not pay the mortgage he will not be in any position to claim squatters rights.
(i.e the lender gets the house with vacant possession)
But he's not old enough to make any declaration about anything though?Your 15 year old will be signing to say that should you not pay the mortgage he will not be in any position to claim squatters rights.
