Just had to post this, Anglia just ran a piece about the feller, 98 I think, whose Barber Shop got ransacked, he was amazed by hundreds of letters of people wishing him well with cheques and money, that Malaysian Student who has had about £10k raised for him and some Indian chap who was overwhelmed by strangers from all ethnic diversitys rallying round to help him get back on the road.

I've got the money. I listened to the owner on news 24 and he impressed me. Given the amount I've paid funding rioters over the last year I'm happy to help. Nice to know we inhabit the same space.crankedup said:

I saw the other night that a load of people had gone out with dustpans and brooms etc to clear up the streets after the riots. That made me proud to be British too (and yes I do realise that an awful lot of the people out there cleaning were not indiginous, but they certainly had the British spirit!)So long as we still have this spirit there is hope...bloody dusty in here, eyes are streaming

I heard the guy being interviewed and his answer was that insurance always takes ages to pay out so the money raised will help get things started sooner. I doubt enough would be raised to pay for the entire building but the idea was to help start things.
