Is it possible that the "closed for maintenance" sign also includes some indication as to how long for and why?

It had one when PH was down the other day, it wasn't that accurate .

We have a countdown, but have removed it since these latest outages are unplanned. It's safe to conclude that if there's no countdown, it's going to be a while...

We are working on it, but there are still a few fallout problems from last weeks outage that we are working on. But it is high in priority.

I assume search is down as that was the exploit?
