Hi,

I am going to install a higher TV aerial mast on my house, I have a spare aerial and was wondering if I could wire the two aerials in serial? or should I use two wires and use a splitter (reversed)to connect them together, or am I wasting my time.

Thanks in advance.

Frank.

Yes.

Unless the aerials are carefully matched and spaced appropriately, you'll make the signal worse.

As you're receiving from a fixed transmit location (ie the TX isn't moving), you only really need one antenna. As long as it's tuned to the correct frequency band for your local transmitter, and is of sufficient gain (but ideally not too much), you'll be fine.

Two antennas into a splitter will most likely interfere with each other, and as mentioned above, make the signal worse.

You can use two antennae, but really you need a diversity receiver (that takes two or more antenna inputs), which I'm guessing isn't something that's readily available for the domestic market.
