Evening all!

I gave the M5 a nice wash and wax today.

The front bumper and sills are looking a little tired and so I'm considering a respray......OCDs and all that!!

Have any of you done this?

Any suggestions/comments appreciated.

Not sure what you're asking Jazz. Are you considering DIY? If so, I wouldn't bother. Just pay a good bodyshop to spray the bits your concerned about. Need my bonnet doing at some point, looking at £450 by BMW recommended or £400 from indy. The front bumper was done just before I bought mine. Looks fine. Standard factory BMW paint is very thin these days, part and parcel of switching to water based paints. I even noticed the Rolls Royces at Goodwood were suffering the orange peel so many BMW owners are upset about.

Hi Eddie!

Not a DIY job.....I'm not that daft or skilled Sir!!

I'll get a few quotes and see what the score is.....just like the car to look perfect.

£500 would seem reasonable.....I don't seem to pay much less than that for anything on the beast!!

You made me laugh in one of your recent posts.....you LOVE your M5, eh?

Welcome to the world of the converted....there's no going back now!!

I did a respray earlier this year. There were the normal stone chips through the years on the front bumper and bonnet, with the mileage I do it was well and truly peppered so I had it resprayed, BUT then I got OCD and thought hmmm seems silly doing just the front so did the whole thing except boot and roof! It's not a lot extra and I think it makes a big difference to be shot of those annoying stone chips. THEN I got even more OCD and couldn;t help notice that as there were no chips in the bonnet and bumper there were tiny chips in the windscreen so got a new one of those last week! I feel ya Jazzer!

Mine is due some paintwork aswell, the snout is stonechipped to buggery.
Mark, did you fit an OE screen or aftermarket? If it was aftermarket, how is it?
My screen is badly chipped and I thought about replacing it but I have read some horror stories on M5Board about ill-fitting aftermarket screens.
I doubt the insurance would splash out for a genuine one either, I think they are about 1k!

Yes went genuine, the only ones that have the heat reflective glass and inlay for HuD to work. If you don;t have the heat reflective glass from factory as an extra they try and install non genuine. But mine was genuine and went through insurance no problems. The installer did say they were about £1200

Thanks for the comments.

The car is in very good nick by most standards and a few people have said I'd be nuts to respray, so I think I'll leave it for now.

Mark....have you sold your beast?

LOL not yet! I'm quite restitant to it! I can keep using mine until and receiving the car allowance until the new 530d arrives, I've specced some pretty weird stuff on it so it takes a little longer than usual to come through! Just got an email today telling me it will be delivered on 7th September BUT the leather colour is nto what I ordered, maybe they will have to start from scratch and that will buy me a few more months of M5 heaven smile
