Hi all, a few may have seen my post regarding the knackered thread in the boot lid for locating the boot latch. Well I had inserts put in yesterday by my local and basically I cannot get the new bolts tight enough to secure the boot latch before the inserts pull out.

I have tried superglue but to no avail. I can get the boot shut but it is loose and not shut tightly enough. If I move the boot latch in order to pull the boot lid down tighter on the lock then the threads/inserts pull out.

Any suggestions?

I would fill the holes in with epoxy resin mixed with chopped fiberglass and drill tap and start again.

Originally the boot lid has two captive threads in the fibreglass. This was sh****d so it has been drilled and inserts put in. The inserts just pull out once there is some pain on them.

Why not make up a plate, drill & tap 2 holes & fibreglass it in place, with plenty of matting, or woven rovings for more strength

Good idea (plate)

That's what I did when one of my targa panel locating pegs came out.
I used Isopon P40 to fill any gaps.

Belt and braces approach. smile

Well touch wood I've got it all back together this evening and fingers crossed everything has stayed in place and the boot shuts nice and tight.
