I needed a couple of litres of petrol to clean some car parts yesterday afternoon, so I sent Mrs Pints to the petrol station with a plastic petrol can in hand. They refused to sell her fuel in this way, owing to the riots.

I don't have a problem with these types of restrictions being put in place in these instances, but how soon before we can buy fuel in containers again? I have fuel needs that don't include petrol bombing anything.

No idea, but there is a justifiable nervousness right now...

Sad state of affairs though!

These aren't restrictions imposed by Government. It's a voluntary decision by a few of the big national retailers / operators who've decided it would be a good idea for a while.

So perhaps ring round some of the smaller independents?

Test it:

Park round corner, send in Mrs Pints with can (looking bit distressed).
"Sorry, no"
weeping "Run out... miles from home... etc..." weeping

Job done?
