C250 Td & C220 CDi quick question

Looking to for an estate version of this, bottom end of market, for a general run-around, dog carrier etc.

I have seen a couple of C220 CDi's which look good value at around 2K, all with 150k plus miles, which doesn't bother me ... but the reports of leaky diesel injection & subsequent 'black death' does.

Is the older C250 TD engine the same high pressure injection, and does it suffer with the same problems .. or is it an earlier (simpler) engine ?

You've got cutlery more complicated than a 250td.

No high-pressures to be seen anywhere. And you can run them on veg.

CDi more high-tech, better performance, more high-risk. Roll the dice.
