Is it just me who finds him boring and irritating. Especially calling all the players by their first name. Pleeeease Sky get someone else.

not just you. i made this exact same thread last week during the community shield.

he commentates as if hes on the radio and we can see. just telling us everything thats happening infront of our eyes.

hes just about on par with clyde tilsprickly or whatever in name dropping his "friends".

i hated andy gray but ray wilkins reminds me that andy gray wasnt that bad a commentator.

He is one of the worst commentators.. adds no excitement to the game which i think the likes of Andy Gray did brilliantly...

Much prefer Ray Wilkins to Andy Gray, who seemed to know nothing and was very condescending in his attitude.
Wilkins adds an element of knowledge about the players and strategy which Andy never did.

All personal preference I guess.

Not sure how he was condescending, but at least he made it seem exciting. Ray Wilkins just rattles out boring facts. He's much better suited to being a pundits so I can ignore him while I make a cuppa at half time.

Surely we can all agree he is much better than Gary Neville.

Him and Gary Neville are horrendous choices for commentators, if I want to hear the ramblings of a crazy biased old man I'll go visit my grandad
