I usually try to be in bed with the lights off by 12:43, just in time for the shipping forecast.

How is it possible to 'win' an argument like this? Surely bedtime is a personal choice isn't it?

Between 10 and 12. The more shattered I'm feeling, the earlier I hit the hay.

I normally go to bed between 11-12.

However this is only relevant depending on the getting up time.

I usually get in bed (although still watching a bit of tv) around 10. Start actually trying to sleep around 11 and i am up at half 6.

I like sleep.

My normal time is 1.30-2 am because I have different working hours due to running my own business.

I would suggest normal time for someone who has to get up at 6am is 11pm. Depends if you want to feel st the next day and risk ill-health. But it also depends on the individual as some people can do with just 5 hours' sleep whilst others need 9 hours. I would let your body tell you what is normal.

hence personal choice, no? Or do you think their mind will be changed if you have overwhelming support from a random collection of strangers on the internet?

there's plenty of stuff out there about the ethics of it. it's for you to read and decide where you sit with the idea.

oh dear, not really going the way you planned, is it? Not that it'll make any difference but I generally turn in about midnight unless I am on the 7-3 shift in which case it's 23.00 ish.

actually it is. for the record my argument was that it isn't unusual for adults on a working night to still be up around or past eleven at night.

hoof, come out of the corner. it just looks wrong for god's sake.
