Next Gen Defender to Debut

Expected to be revealed in Frankfurt Germany.

I guess if the public response is good it will go into production, or perhaps might need tweaking

Either way i'm sad as I feel the next defender will lose the character of the current one.

Euro pedestrian safety standards, crash standards and emission standards will IMO put severe restrictions on how the new car will look/behave.

i fully expect

Lifestyle, glitter, road manners, london focus, school run friendly etc.

I don't expect

Something that can be fixed with a welder and a hammer, ability to headbutt trees, parts designed for the 1948 landrover

The 2011 defender double cab shares 1 part with the 1948 prototypes. The little clip the canvas cover attaches to for the rear load bed

The problem with the current defender is that land rover never really fixed the problems with it... hence the reason eventually when the Japanese caught up, everyone went with them .

Why do the Japanese rule the market? it's not because land rovers are not capable, it's because they are bloody unreliable.

I can't see a new defender fixing that problem and land rover need to get that through their bone heads.
