Sounds stupid. What's wrong with eating properly and exercising? Apart from the obvious smile

By shakes, do you mean protein shakes?

Drinking them every day as a supplement, no worries at all but using them as your sole source of sustenance sounds a bit silly IMO.

Am vaguely surprised that somebody hasn't tried peddling a diet composed entirely of drinking bull semen, frothed to a cappuccino-esque foam and served over a cup of freshly foraged turd.

Don't be ridiculous. Talk about a high carb meal.

Probably. biggrin

I have done it before, works as advertised. First week or so will be rough, headaches and generally crankiness, after that it's a breeze. What size is the bottle of water?. Aim for 4 litres a day

Just on my 3rd day. And its tough. Your 4 shakes/soups give your 500 calories. I'm aiming for 4LTs a day. But its tought to drink that much. Your can shift 2 stone a month.

Sounds similar to the lipotrim diet which is prescribed on the nhs. And as with most diets, losing the weight is easy part - it's keeping it off when you return to your 'normal' diet which is tough.

You will get used to the water and the frequent toilet breaks will subside as your bladder compensates. 2 stone will be expected in the first month, but the rate of weight loss will taper off so be prepared for it and don't let it dishearten you. I had some weeks where I only lost 3 or 4 pounds.

Wait, 500 calories per day??? Is that all???

I was always taught that 500 calories deficit is the limit of what is a good idea? 500 calories per day sounds pretty unhealthy...

I really do not understand diets like this - more exercise and a little less food is good, starving yourself just seems daft.

I agree, does sound daft and I didn't understand it either until I tired and found it worked so well that I actually enjoyed it.

Another thing I find daft and don't understand is people who drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. It tastes horrid and serves no practical purpose, yet millions of people continue to do it even though they *know* it is harmful to their health.

Mental.

Very good point...

There is a social aspect to the above activities however, going to dieting clubs doesn't seem as fun as the pub...

Still, 110% agree with you there...

Its not a good point, its totally wrong and stupid.

500 cals a day is doing your bdy more harm than good I suggest, and as with everything there's no way you can carry it on after the diet has finished, and you'll put the weight all back on.

Personally I've barely changed my diet at all (its generally ok anyway) and just upped the excersise, but I still drink and smoke every now and again, and I'll bet I'm fitter and more healthy than one of you 500 cal a day lot.

The diet is not a long term lifestyle. It's a diet. And when you get to your chosen weight you come of the diet and focus on maintaing your weigh though the slow introduction of food. It's ment for people who regular diets don't work. By totally removing the chance of you over eating. Cos you don't eat. It's hard, but jumped on the scales this morning, lost 6 pounds alreadysmile

Normal diets don't work? What are you talking about?

Blaming anyone else but yourself is an error.

No ! I'm not blaming anyone but myself for the gut I have now. But the usual diets don't work for me. Just can't stick to them. If I was one of there fattys that felt sorry for myself I would be banging down my docs door for a 7k band op. Posted this to look for anyone who had done the same diet. But oh no, I get a small minded, self opinionated,kn0b talking sh!t about something if knows feck all about.

There is no need for such diets in life, you just have to be honest with yourself about what your eating and how little excersise you're doing.
