Just wondering what people are paying for the garages they rent and what you get for your money?

Looking to get something myself, side of the road is becoming a bit of a pain.

Thanks. smile

Council ones are the cheapest but you may find them a) in slightly dodgy areas and b) may not have any power

Looked at few of them and there not to great.

Can spend about £200 a month on one so hoping I can get something decent.

I pay 30 quid a month to a relative for a single garage, no power.
It is small, the E39 just fits in with a couple of inchs to spare. Not too bad widthways though.
I presume it will be much, much more in citys etc.

i used to have a council one and a generator but tbh they are that tight i used to work more infront of it or just in the middle of the garages with my doors locked up so the local scum couldn't see where I kept anything exciting. When they realised i had my jeep in there they kicked in 4 garage doors to find mine only to find it with the keys in but no battery so they nicked the keys and smashed the windows I promptly gave up the garage.better to move to a house where you can access the garden to build one that's what I'm doing moving to house number 2 now because although my garage spot was great the house was quickly outgrown and so never got round to building the garage frown

This is why I wouldn't get a council one. Scum! Sorry to hear that.

I pay £40 a month for a council lockup, and £40 for a spot in a hangar in the middle of nowhere in Devon.

I'd go round a few local farms and see what you can bargain for ... no point a farmer having an empty buillding is there? Might as well get some money from it ..

I pay £400 per month for a small industrial unit, I go halves with a mate, can fit 6 cars in, has power, gas heating running water, loo etc.

Could probably find cheaper, but this was on a nice estate.

This seems like the best thing to do.

I've been looking at council garages, but seems a bit of a pain not having any space round the side of the car.

Shame the OP is in yorkshire and not lancashire as I'm looking for someone to share with.

I wouldn't dismiss all council garages.

I used to have a garage from the local council, it was about £12 per month, less than 1 mile from the house. The garages were brick built, in a quiet area.

No power and not enough space to work on, but storage for superb. Unfortunately it was broken into but the dumb chavs ignored the Bike, Car and toolbox & took a £20 battery pack.

This is a shame. That would have been ideal. I'm from Lancashire as well. Dam!

So you're either happy to have your garage broken into now and again, or a bit thick wink

Admit it was a bit misleading. It was separate points. The garage itself was a good garage, clean and dirt cheap. Not all council garages are crappy wooden huts.

Yes it was broken into, but that wouldn't stop me renting from the council again in the right area.

A bit of a long shot I know, (what with Gods own county being so large), but what part of Yorkshire are you based in?
I'm in Leeds BP. Where are you?

I forgot to mention.....

About four years ago I rented a decent sized single from an old lady in the centre of Sheffield for £50 pcm.

Rhy, have you tried Gumtree?
I have and there's one for £300 just down the road from me, yet to check it out.

You from Sheffield?
