Hi peeps..Been out in the sunshine today..Went to see rooodboy as he offered to do some work on mine..Changed N/S front wheel bearing..(Still can hear a little noise..I think its the rear starting to go)..Replaced steering rack gaiters..Universal ones were used but when the old ones came off there was a pipe coming from the steering rack going into each of the gaiters..A bit weird..Does anyone know why?..Also went to change the front O/S engine mount but access is a little tight..Does the manifold have to come off?..Cheers..Ziga
Inner edge of gaiter:

Pipe:

A couple of crows having a barney..

Thought id just sling em in for good measure..hehe

Wild stab in the dark... it's a vent to balance air pressure within the bellows to avoid fluid being sucked-out past the rack seals...

The rear bearings are a right PIA the change, your need over 10 Ton to do them, they are a lot tighter than the 400SE ones. also you need a few special adaptors to get them in and out, you can borrow the ones I made when you want to do them.

I found changing mine on the racer has removed a vibration I had at over 115 MPG, but not sure you have gone that fast in yours.

Hi Leigh..Ive read quite a lot about the trouble people have had with them..Thanks for the offer of special tools..Ive only been up to around 90mph..I did have a whinning like a jet taking off next to me but since rooodboy done the N/S wheel bearing i can just faintly hear a bit of a rumble which could be the rear..Maybe should of changed the O/S front just to eliminate any possibilities..I keep losing my coolant out fo the expansion tank...It did this a while back then stopped and has now started again..I have replaced the rad cap and the expansion cap..I dont think its the head gasket as it would get worst if anything..Cheers..ziga

As said on here best get a pressure tester that fits on a expansion tank, get the car warm, but NOT hot, and then pressure the system and look for leaks.

on the racer I could not hear any noise from the bearings, but I was changing everything just to be safe, but also the racer is so noisy it's hard to tell.
