its an E46 328.

after fixing a leak i thought it would be a good idea to drain and refill with fresh coolant.

ive filled the expansion tank to the top, left the cap off, heater on full, engine on.

but its not sucking the coolant into the engine or rad?

am i doing something wrong?

any help on this would be great?

cheers

Did you remove/open the bleed screw?

thanks greig beer that seems to have done the trick.

i was only loosening the bleeder, so i removed it completely and the coolant started flowing with lots of air escaping.

the temp gauge seems to be stable now at idle.

also the heaters are now nice and hot, before they were only blowing cold air.

im now waiting for it to cool to check the level, will then go for a drive to check.
