What is the best car in each category in terms of the drive? Here's my suggestions to get us started (the ones in brackets are the ones that I have actually driven)!

FWD: DC2 Honda Intergra Type-R - I have to try one of these if they are as good as I've heard (Peugeot 205 GTi)

RWD: Porsche 911 GT3 (Mazda MX5)

AWD: Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R/Audi R8? (Subaru Impreza WRX)

What would you rate as the best "driver's" car in each category?

How can you choose the best without actually driving them?

From those that I've driven:

FWD: Lotus Elan, M100.
RWD: Caterham Seven CSR.
AWD: I don't have enough experience here to know, but from what I've read I suppose it'd either be a 911C4S or a Gallardo/R8.
