Hi all.

I've had my car back on the road now since October last year. Due to moving to London, I am looking to sell the car and have a prospective buyer. The insurance obviously runs out in October, but since I paid it monthly, I have paid the last instalment. Is there any reason, if I do sell the car this month, that I have to cancel the insurance? I would like to keep the insurance running if possible because it is paid off and would like to gain the year's no claims

Cheers

I'd say october is too far to leave it run, if the new person has an accident it could cause problems with your current insurer.
Also your policy booklet will usually advise you that you must call the insurer immediately to cancel the policy if you sell the car.

If you have sold the car then DOC is usually void as you still need to be the owner for the policy to be valid, also DOC isn't supposed to be used as replacement cover for a normal policy.
