Hi all
The wife and I are doing a 10 holiday, which takes in a few European countries. They are: France, Italy, Germany, Belgium.

So, what do I need to carry legally, and what would you seasoned drivers advise, so far, I've got:

GB sticker
First aid kit
Warning triangle
Fluorescent jacket
Spare bulb kit
Selection of common tools
Oil and water

Last time I drove abroad we bought some beam deflectors, which when warm came unstuck! Does anyone know of an online guide of where to stick some proper electrical tape on the headlights?

Cheers

different countries have subtly different requirements (e.g. number of warning triangles & hi-viz jackets)

Try here : http://www.drive-alive.co.uk/driving_tips.html for details of each one.

Also, does anyone know if you can pre pay for toll roads and use the 'rolling' lanes instead of stopping? There also may be times I will be in the car alone, which makes life difficult at tolls.

Is there one provider Europe wide?

You know doing that (except left but not right) is actually the rule here in the UK don't you?

Not really - though you can get transponders which make life easier. (.e.g https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/ for France)

It's hard to believe that to be honest.

You need a car as well. Don't forget a car.

hehe I think I may well notice the wear on my shoe leather!

So - has anyone got a handy headlight guide anywhere? Also - an additonal one, as I'm camping, are there any rules on carrying camping gas in little bottles onboard?

Cheers

I'd guess that you're a brave (and surely very rich) man?
