Best price for an Omega Planet Ocean?

[Dan x2c]

Hi all,

I'm looking to get my first proper watch, I've always had a thing for watches however never been in a position to warrant spending a couple of thousand on a watch until about 18 months ago.

I've looked long and hard and after much deliberation I've settled on starting my collection with a Planet Ocean which my other half is going to buy me as a wedding present (I am lucky, however I think she'll be getting a Constellation from me!).

The watch in question is a black faced steel on steel 42mm

I know the RRP is around £2600, I can get it tax free when I visit Guernsey shortly, however is there anywhere on the mainland where I'll get a better price? Bearing in mind the new PO's are out shortly, thought there may be some deals to be had, I work just off Bond Street and popped into Watches of Switzerland today but the PO is still marked up for RRP.

Any help for a saving or pointing to a good seller would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for new only please.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

10% is the absolute minimum discount you'll get off of RRP from any AD just by asking, with the newer model due out soon I should think that 15% or higher is possible.

Contact Dominic H, a regular on here and a watch/jewellery dealer , never used him myself but many have with very happy results.

ETA very fine choice!

You could have a look at places like swisswatchesdirect:

Phone ahead to make sure they have that version in stock. If using M&W, they tend to stick to RRP.
Call Ray & Scott & ask for Jeff, he will sort you out at a great price. Tell him Darren with the Panerai sent you.

I have that exact watch, took delivery a month ago and paid £2120 (20% off RRP of £2650) with free engraving that I wanted done worth £80. I was offered it at £2050 at another jewellers but went with a company I know and trust, not just for sales but also aftercare, the price working out the same with the engraving anyway.
Easiest way to do it is phone the jewellers, state you want that watch and state the best price you've been offered is 'x' and ask if they'll match/beat it. Just ensure 'x' is a believeable price in the first place.

I paid £2,080 for the same watch from a UK reputable authorised dealer in March before the price rise. Would have been £2,065 for a debit card. They have a web site but you will have to call them for a discount,

They were delightful to deal with. Ordered it over the phone at 3.30pm Friday and it arrived 9am Saturday morning RM special delivery.

PM me if you want the name of the dealer.

Many thanks for all the pointers, I'm determined to get something off and hopefully these will put me on the right track.

audidoody PM coming your way...
