I'm very curious as to what folks opinions on Panerai watches is. I've been a long time fan of the more tool like watches, starting with Seiko all the way up to Rolex, Omega etc. But Panerai was always off my rader because I just didn't get them. Now I've started looking a little deeper and doing some research and I think I'm starting to come around. First to catch my eye was the 292k, especially on the JV Nubuck strap. Here's a pic i found on googleimages.

I can't put my finger on why I love them so much, but I just do.

Nope, not for me.

I've never seen a Panerai, either in pictures or in reality, that didn't leave me stone cold.

I think they are quite a polarizing brand.
You either love them or hate them I reckon, and some of them are huge!

I love mine, 40mm Ti lovely smile

I don't dislike the designs but at the same time I haven't seen any yet that make me particularly excited. If I had that kind of money to spend on a watch it would almost certainly be going elsewhere.

I really like them on other people but they tend to be huge and would look odd among my collection. I want to try a 40mm one but haven't seen one in the flesh.

Nope, not at all. Apart from anything else, the pretty ordinary movements in almost all of them (at extraordinary prices) is a big turn off.

me too. iwanted one for years and finally got the GMT jobbie. love it.

although to be fair if I had to only have one watch it would go in favour of my speedmaster.

Love them but found Anonimo, which if the story is true, is where Panerai where made till the company was bought out by Swatch and moved to Switzerland.

I hated them at first, as I thought it just looked ugly and oversized. Then for some unknown reasonI started to like them, went out and bought one, admired it, then started a new obsession with straps spin

Must admit I wasn't expecting such polarised responses. It seems they really are a love/hate brand. I'm not sure if I like the squarer cased versions but the radomir case has a certain elegance about it. I think I might need to find an AD and pop in and try a few out. I've not tried on anything larger than 42mm so I have no idea how I would feel with a larger cased watch like this. Never know, might be able to end my obsession with steel tool and diver watches!
