Gearbox and clutch replacement - quoted £900 ....

I have been quoted £900 to fit a reconditioned gearbox and new clutch to my 2001 Lexus IS200.

Does this sound expensive?

This is in the Leeds area.

Sounds in the right sort of area to me.

(I take it that they are supplying the gearbox and clutch and that the £900 isn't just labour...).

Sounds about right bud

A reconditioned gearbox for my Saxo was around £4-500 without fitting.

Make sure it's recon and not a scrapyard special though

Well it's £800 for clutch and DMF on a Mondeo, so £900 for clutch and gearbag sounds pretty good.

Recon 200SX box' were £600+ and scrapyards were £200.

Clutch wouldn't bother me too much, as even motorfactors ones are decent enough nowadays.

Labour - fixed, agreed price is the best way.

Recon box. Proof? paperwork? warranty? where from? reputation?
