Had a pleasant run at the weekend from Edinburgh to North Yorkshire via the A697 Coldstream road. Whilst making decent progress I got flashed by a Gatso, however, it was on the opposite side of the road facing me. I was under the impression Gatso's only monitored one side of the road.

The road is single carriageway, will I be getting a little letter?

They do, but you can set them off the wrong way if you go fast enough towards them.

According to ukspeedtraps they have to have a switch set for rearward or forward facing mode, and as they are all set for rearward they can't process a photo taken the wrong way.

I've never heard of a NIP as a result of being flashed going towards one, so you should be safe.

Thanks Joust.

Hopefully I'll be OK.
