Can I reserve a numberplate?

Come the '15' registration, there will be a numberplate available which I'd quite like - is it possible to reserve via Dvla along the lines of first refusal?

Nope first come first served.

Ring up on the opening day and take your chance first to get through and second it's at a standard price! I think dealers get a priority allocation but the DVLA don't seem to admit to this.

Im sure you can buy private plates about 3 months before they are actually released so that you have them in time to put it on an appropriate car

No we don't - we just have more lines to dial out on / internet connections to use when they're released.

We're a few years away from the 15 reg anyway, so something may be different by then...
