The Seychelles Tourism Minister is blaming a foreign shark. I wasn't aware that sharks had nationality now.

Well presumably if the Seychelles government has not issued any sharks with passports, or any formal nationality papers, then it is technically a foreign shark.

If they want to catch this foreign shark, surely they should be encouraging swimmers not the opposite?

Blimey, I've been swimming off that beach. I'm obviously not tasty enough.

When they say: "we have to get the beast out of these waters"

I take it that actually means: "we have to locate a suitably sized shark, which in itself will be difficult due to their dwindling numbers since the prevalence of shark finning and deaths by by-catch have driven these Apex predators to near extinction. Once we have found a randomly selected suitably sized shark, we will kill it and drag its bloodied corpse around for the media to take pictures of, then we can all breathe a sigh of relief and restart the tourist dollars rolling in again"

We are the foreigners out there, not the sharks.

Anyway, surely this can all be blamed on global warming, or the bankers ? or both.

They'd have been listening to their mobile phone messages up until a few weeks ago...

Sad story.

Shark attacks are however few and far between, and as above, we are murdering them in droves, which is something we should be looking to stop.

Front page headline of The Sun today:

"Shark widow: Find my Ian's wedding ring"

It seems silly season is a little late starting this year.

Whenever I see someone described as a Briton, I think of a pre-Roman guy like this

Who would look a bit odd in the Seychelles.

I wonder if there will be an extradition order taken out on the wife once they catch the shark and it claims that it was paid to do it!
