X-Type Estate Parking Sensor Fail
Discussion
Hi folks,
My parking sensor has stopped functioning on my X-Type estate (2005). I also noticed on reversing up to my garage last night that the reverse light was not on! Is there a link between the two? If I replace the reverse light will it fix the problem or could it be a switch not clicking? I know I should just replace the bulb but thought I'd just ask first to see if others may have this problem. The reverse sensor did beep for a moment the other day which led me to believe it could be more sinister!
Thanks, Rus

As said they both work off the same switch, but it is situated on top of the gearbox(if you look behind where the battery is straight down on the gearbox you will see it with a black connector on the top), its either a 17mm or 19mm socket to remove the switch and can be done in about 30 seconds. Its worth trying to give it a clean but a new one only cost less than £10.

Hmm, tried to find this switch but couldn't see it (or wasn't too sure what it looked like). The reverse lights & sensor did come on once, but after selecting neutral then back into reverse the sensors or lights didn't work. So it does seem like a dodgy switch... Can I buy one online do you know? Just need to work out where it is under the bonnet to replace.
Thanks again for your help!

Hi,
They can be hard to find first time round
, the part number for them is
C2S 44848, I expect you could get one off ebay but for the sake of £10 and a pound or so postage most dealers will send one to you.
I cant put up a picture as I am at work, but the reverse switch is a silver hexagonal with a black electrical connector that un clips on the top of it, they are about an inch and a half tall and if you are stood by the n/s/f wheel looking into the engine bay, look down behind the battery and just to the left of the gear selector cable you will see the reverse switch.
Hope this helps
