Floor construction
Discussion
I'm in the process of digging out the floors in my 1880's place. The plan is to install a Dpm and underfloor heating.
The question is do I dig it out put in insulation then Dpm then concreet then pipes and screed
Or do I just have a solid slab with Dpm then insulate on top and clip the pipes to that?
I guess I'm asking do I need to but insulation in the sub floor or not?

Concrete with U/F Heating Pipes
This has a better thermal mass, which suits UFH.....i.e. the concrete holds the temperature better than a thin screed.
But both are fine.
It always seems daft to put screed on top of Kingspan but hey-ho it works I suppose.

It means you are not heating up the concrete as well as the screed
