Join PistonHeads At Britcar 24: 30 Sept - 2nd Oct

Camping with mates alongside 24 hours of racing. What could be better?

PistonHeads will host a private campsite alongside the 2011 Britcar 24 with our partners at 1st-Tickets, and we would like you to join us.

If you are missing Le Mans and PistonFest, then this is the event for you. Perhaps you want to do a Le Mans warm-up? Or you can never seem to convince your mates/missus that camping at Le Mans is a good idea? This is a great way to test their camping mettle, not far from home and at a wallet-friendly price.

With the Britcar 24 taking place at the back end of September we are guaranteed to be basking in the summer weather we never had (perhaps) and, although there is racing going on a few yards from the campsite, you are more than welcome to simply chat around the BBQ all weekend and enjoy the atmosphere.

But whereas Le Mans can be rather costly to attend, Le Silverstone is less so. Camping for the weekend at Britcar starts at just £60 for a pitch. So bring three mates, add in entry tickets and a programme and the price per person is still just £31.25. As David Dickinson might say, that is a ‘bloomin’ bargain’ (Would he? - Ed.).

This is the pure reason 5 of us intend to go Britcar, the 4 of them have never done Le Mans and im trying to convince them that everyone should, at least once

Love the trampoline for sale in the camping section. Something to sleep under, keep you out of the rain, and then bounce your hangover away in the morning.

Or even better, host of wet T-Shirt 'who can bounce highest' competitions.

I'm booked, the Mrs is coming. It's to make up for the fact she's not allowed to come to Le Mans. Clue is in the name

60 Quid at Silverstone, no LMP1 or LMP2 cars, watching a bunch of gentlemen drivers in GT3's and a few old bangers from defunct series sounds expensive?

Le mans is expensive!! £40 for a entry ticket for the whole week of the 24hr race plus the test day, £55 for the ferry, £50 for insurances, get all the beer and food at tesco for when your not track side and then share it all between the four of you in the motor.. That's 32 to 36 hours of track action at Le Mans, for near half that of a day at the Grand Prix at silverstone. I've been to le mans 15 times. I went to my first British F1 GP in 1971 at 18 months old and then every year till I was 24. Then it just got to expensive and just revolved to much around the TV time slots. In the earlier years there were about ten races on the sunday. The last year I went it was just the porsche cup race then the Grand Prix, £140 for two races', AGAIN "Le Mans is expensive!!!" No, I think le mans is the best value event in the racing year...

I'll be there, but I'll be working. Don't know exactly where I'll be yet, but I'll be working somewhere on the site.
