Does anyone know if any companies that provide short-term insurance (like 1 month or 3 months)?

I'm kinda loathe to fork out a years insurance for only a few weeks driving, and then lose a load on the cancellation of the policy.

Many thanks in advance,

K

When I spoke to my insurance about this they said the best way with them is to insure it for the year and pay monthy, then u cancel the policy the month you finish with it .. and send them the certificate back.

You will pay a bit more spreading the cost over the year but you dont have the full amount to stump up then claim back.

I found direct line helpfull and they still have me some money back canceling my last policy in its 11th month

Cheers Chris,

It does sound like the most sensible option.

I just took out a policy with tesco.com on monthly direct debit (8% apr) and if you only use a month, you only pay for a month etc etc. There is a 20% depoit but you get a refund if you don't use it all.

Is it your only car?
When we got the TVR we got it added on to an existing policy on a week by week basis - cost us 15 quid a week. Just until I got a decent quote.
Beauty was, we could drive both cars at the same time (clearly 1 person in 1 and the other in the second car!).

As an interesting aside - doing a quick search thru various sites, I found the Norwich Union "Pay as you drive" pilot scheme.

Might be useful for all you part-time/weekend/sunny drivers ...
