OIl pressure when hot

Having searched the previous oil pressure threads nothing seems to answer the problem I am seeing.
When running at normal water temp (reading just above 70 on the gauge) the oil pressure is fine around 15 on idel and 30 psi when running. However when sitting in traffic and the water temp rises to 90. Fans etc hold it steady, the oil pressure starts to drop right off, close to 0 on the gauge. Oil pressure warning light does no come on.
When running again and the temp comes down the pressure recovers but not quite to the normal operating pressure (recovers to around 20 - 25psi when running)
The car is going in to RT racing tomorrow for some other jobs, Richards initial thoughts were that it could be a worn oil pump. Is this likely? Has anyone else seen a similar thing? It is a serpentine 4.5 by the way.

I have just come on to report "exactly" the same phenomenon. And see your thread.
Got the fright of my life when I pulled up in the drive and saw the gauge hardly registering when idling.
I have had the same thoughts, keep me posted on what RT Racing say.
PS Why can I never find RT Racing in phone book, or on Yell on-line.

I thought this was a common 'problem' with the V8 and provided the pressure comes back to around 30psi when you accelerate then this was ok. Please tell me if this is not the case as certainly I suffer from the same problem i.e no or very little pressure when idling with a hot engine
I am glad it isn't just mine then. I'll post what Richard diagnoses, I had originally assumed that maybe I was running with in appropriate oil and have tried throwing some STP in there wich has helped.
If you search for Wedge automotive in google it finds a page with one of their old catalogues from when they were at Parkhead. The phone number stayed the same when they moved and changed name to RT racing. I have also found that they aren't listed in the phone book or in yellow pages.

For those interested in what the solution to my hot oil problems were.
Richard thought that it was worth having a look at the oil pump, found nothing fudeamentaly wrong but in his wword reset it to give a bit more pressure. I don't know how this is done or what it involves the results however are that at a hot idle i.e. with the fans cutting in, the pressure now reads around 10 psi,and very quickly increases up to 25 - 30 as the revs rise. Also initial pressure when running cold is up to 45psi. All in all a good result for 1 hours labour charge!
He also commented that it is comon for this to happen with the RV8 and some new cars only manage 15psi on a hot idle.
