Thought I'd ask here as I know quite a few folk vist the land of the Noggies. Any idea how to call the UK from offshore in Norway? Nobody on board seems to have a clue. All I have found out is that it is 0 for an outside line. I have tried dialing 0 then 00144 but no joy. Last time on a Norwegian rig I had to dial a number and ask the operator for an international line.

I'm on Statoil's Njord Bravo FPSO.

Should it not be 0,0044 xxxx xxxxxx ?

i.e. 0 for external line, 0044 for UK from scandinavia, then normal phone number without the first zero?

Pretty sure that is what I used to use from Denmark anyway...

Or sometimes you need to use star(*) instead of 00.

Yep, should just be 0 then 0044 then the full dial code omiting the first zero so 1224 123456.

so full number would be 000441224123456

Got to the bottom of it eventually. You had to dial 055142000 and then ask the operator for an international line, then press 1 then 0044 and the number. What a PITA.

Good to know. I am living in Norway and probably doing my first time offshore next week (won't be a regular though). I'll be on stuff around the Aasgard stuff, probably Deepsea Bergen.
