mrs fell down the stairs and seemingly has chipped a bone in her ankle and badly sprained it the LGI stuck a back slab on and sent her off with her xrays on cd and told her to book into fracture clinic now earliest she can get an appointment is tuesday and to me thats a bit far away.

question is should we try to find another hospital that can do it sooner or just wait ? issue is we have a weekend in london in 2 weeks so really want to get it sorted asap but id imagine we are just going to end up missing out on the trip now but we also go to turkey in 6 weeks frown unfortunately all they said in AE was you chipped the bone so not much to go on as we dont know what bone

Not sure what an LGI is.
I am guessing from what you have written that your wife has ligament damage to her ankle. Without examining the foot myself and reviewing the pictures I can do no more than guess from what you have said. When you damage the ligaments you can pull a "chip" off the bone. Where I work you get a below knee cast("back slab"), instructions not to weight bear and then you come back in a week for new examination and if needed a new cast. So to me Tuesday seems quite reasonable. By then the swelling should be less which can make an new physical examination easier. It can also make further imaging more productive (if needed). Off the top of my head (and others around here know better than me) I think it is a total of 4-6 weeks immobilisation and then physio.
Hope this helps. You can always call the department up and ask questions if you need more info.
