And just another £8k a year to keep it running!

On a more serious note, that is amazing value.

Might be a bit optimistic here thinking that the owner did not wright the ad, a 5 year Maserati owner using lol's in the ad??

Dunno, as above, Maserati - 100k miles - part history, bit of a gamble @ 5k!

These give me The Fear. They are my girlfriend's dream car and I have enough cash to buy one but I won't for a bunch of reasons.

1. These are from the Bi-Turbo days. I have only seen BTs go through at classic auctions with £1 per mile in recipts. fk that

2. It's a complex Italian engine, with turbos. fk that

3. Servicing is very much at Ferrari levels. fk that.

I'm still tempted mind

Ok, so written English might not be a strong point, but they are cheap!

I like a challenge, and one has been brought to my attention where wildlife (mice/rats) have attacked the under bonnet wiring.

I am really tempted, worst case in my mind is that it ends up get in after market stand alone management fitted!

Or broken for spares.......

Given that the V8 is twin turbo, it must be easy to tune up. Remember seeing on on Autotrader with a headline figure of 500hp in the advert title.

Recipe for disaster ?

A friend has a 4200 and it is a thing of beauty. Surprisingly practical too.

A few years ago I very vaguely looked into the idea of an early 3200. Enrty level price back then was around £10k and I saw one advertised for £12k ish with 'bills totalling £5900 this year' or something on the ad. Now granted, the fact someone's done the work probably means it was a fairly decent one to pick, but the idea of something generating half its value in one (alebit unlucky) year put me right off. So I went and bought a TVR instead, which promptly lunched its engine.

It's most definitely a V8; I would know, I looked at the engine under the bonnet of my 3200 quite a few times.

I was there last Sunday, claims to be Britains oldest pub, but does not have the atmosphere, nice location though.

Ooh. That makes me want one more. I was sure it was a V6. Must be all the beer

3200 has a twin turbo V8, I think it's a development of the Shamal's engine.

4200 is a normally aspirated V8 with a Ferrari history.

Went to look at these with my mum as an alternative to the XK8 she bought

1/2 hour of speaking to the specialist about running costs and common faults was enough to decide that the potential for big bills was just too high, at the the time they were £15-20k but at £8k they're almost worth taking a risk with.
