What's a dead one worth?

After owning my Cerb for about 4 years I'm throwing in the towel as it's not a joy to drive as the engine has let go again. I'm constantly on edge listening for things not sounding right so I end up not using the car.
The garage that did the initial rebuild have admited fault and have send the cash to another garage to do the rebuild. My plan is that once it's rebuilt i'll sell it complete with 3 year warranty.
My question is, if I were to sell the 97 4.2 silver (with black and grey inside) as a project to someone for them to rebuild what might it be worth? I've not seen anything in the classified.

A fixed early car is worth say 10k, a rebuild could be 5k. I would say a broken one is worth say £6.5k? All very rough n ready figs and all IMHO.

If i don't go ahead with the rebuild it would come with the old engine which does still run. It's had new discs, brakes, brand new alarm system, tuscan S rear shocks.

In terms of value, I suppose an average early 4.2 Cerb as noted above is about the £10k mark, typically I would observe that a project car is worth a bit less than the finished cost less the cost of repairs. I've bought and fixed and sold a load of MOT failures, light crash damage and broken cam belts etc, not as an income, just as a hobby, but of course its nice to make some beer tokens, typically I reckon on spending a third on buying, a third on fixing and a third is my bonus!
Pop is on ebay with a reserve and see where it ends, reasonable way of testing the market.
I've advertised mine in the past, a 98 4.2 with FSH, air con, hydratrak, Halcyon Paint, Private plate etc The engine is out of the car as it needs a new auxiliary shaft, and the outriggers do need attention as I can see little holes in the front corners. The best offer I had for mine was 5k and I get to keep the AJP.
Good luck with the sale, but don't expect to get much for it. It seems most people who are after non-running Cerbs want them as cheap as possible for LS conversions.

This is a sad thread Malcolm. Is there a compromise? There are already people who have shown inerest in rebuilding the engine - can you not buddy up with someone and do the re-build?
Having done the work 'yourself' you can faith in the engine (that knowledge of whats gone on brings) and then you will undoubtedly drive it with a new found confidence as well.
Maybe I'm being a bit romantic, but it seems a good plan to me. I would like to buy it from you and do just that, if you are still keen to sell it

It seems I underestimated what a broken one is worth vs a fully rebuilt one.
It is a sad thread but i can't buddy up with someone, i'm out. I had a dream when I was 16 and i can remember clearly talking to a friend at work one saturday evening. We were talking about what cars we'd buy if money was not an object. For me it was the Cerbera, and a few years ago I bought my dream. within 100 miles on day one the engine had blown. 11 months later the car was returned and but there was always something.
I'm sick of the lies from certain garages and don't like the feeling of "Will my car start today?". They say, never meet your heros, I agree, the dream is shattered. I can live with the big bills but as I work from home I don't drive everyday so the poor thing just sits.
I've got a couple of good leads to offload the car and would love to sell it to someone who will revive it. I might have a deal with the current garage which will see all parties pleased.
The memories of the days it did work, being "spotted" in the Scotland's finest car thread, the looks from other drivers and the "grin" that it gives will stay with me but i need rid of it before they go too

Nicky are you stockpiling them until there's none left, at which point you will charge a kingdom for one and take over the world?

All that loving care put into the car with carefully and lovingly crafted carbon all over the engine bay, and interior. A real showroom display of what could be done with carbon. Was the feature in a number of threads a while back and pretty much his shop front window.

But is back in ownership and was at the recent RR day, running well.All that loving care put into the car with carefully and lovingly crafted carbon all over the engine bay, and interior.
