Surely its time to see sense here? If someone of sound mind wants to end their suffering then why prevent them in this case?

As a society we really have to sort this out as it will become increasingly important with our ageing population.
It might be that there would have to be an oversight panel established to make sure that family "encouragement" doesn't happen.
However, take me and my wife, childless, both of no religious faith, both not wanting to be a burden upon the State, both not wanting to be unable to "do".
Why deny us assisted suicide when we, each, say "that's enough".
We all say about our pets, "I don't want him or her to suffer".

Doesn't that exclude Gordon Brown then?Surely its time to see sense here? If someone of sound mind wants to end their suffering then why prevent them in this case?
My nan slowly suffered with terminal cancer for around 2.5 years.
in that time she lost her esophagus and was reduced to a bag of bones.
She was still completely with it.. and in the end she just wanted be in control of her own death.
I believe as long as the right measures are set up
It can only be the right thing to do.
In cases for people who are of sound mind...
Forcing someone to live can be cruel.
It would have to be well thought out though.
