Just had a call from a relative claiming that
the RAC and AA will not continue their service
if the vehicle is 10 years + unless an additional
payment of sorts has been paid through Barclays.

It does not ring true and I cannot find anything
on web about it

can anyone expand on this or confirm or correct this please

the "...through barclays" part sounds very scammy. Why the hell would they care which bank you pay through?

Is this free cover from a bank or something and they have a caveat and this is what they have come up against?

If your car is over 10 years old and you would like a vehicle-based breakdown cover, you must choose a higher level of vehicle cover than basic Roadside, such as:
– Roadside and Recovery (Onward Travel optional)
– Roadside and At Home
– Roadside, Recovery and At Home
– Roadside, Recovery, At Home and Onward Travel.
There is no car age limit if you are choosing personal-based breakdown cover.

Your question
Does the age of my car matter?
Your answer
With RAC Personal Breakdown Cover there is no age limit on the vehicles we cover.
If you have chosen RAC Vehicle Roadside Cover only, then your vehicle must be under 10 years old. If you choose a higher level of vehicle-based cover, then there is no age limit.

STICK, WRONG END.

They will attend for cars of all ages. Also all types of cars.
I have personally called the RAC out for a mk2 clio, mk1 focus, freelander (last night being the latest for that) and for the kitcar about 4 times.

Also all of the above have been recovered and took home/to repair garages 9 times without any issues. hehe

I get good value for money from the RAC biggrin

+1
sounds like the small print from a bank account benefit.
