Nope, this isn't a "what car" thread - it's a genuine survey of PHers.

So which car has the most comfortable/effective driving position?

I qute like the driving position of a TVR a Tuscan very comfortable but needs getting used to as it feels like you're almost laying down hehe

S2000's have a great driving position pretty much perfect for me.

TVR Cerbera has the best driving position of any car I've driven. Pedal position is great and the steering wheel position is perfect.

It surely depends on the shape of the driver?

I thought the sports seats / driving position in my old e39 5 series was absolutely spot on.

But then back in 2001 I racked up a lot of miles in a Volvo S60 - that was not bad either.

Actually, on balance I give it to the S60.

It has to be perfect for somebody considering the wheel doesn't move and there is no height adjustment on the seat.

I knew it must at least fit one person wink

I found the F1 to have the most natural driving position and was bloody comfortable too.

I quite enjoy driving the Bentley Continental GT C - nice driving position there too.

Mk1 MX5 also never fails to disappoint

hehe I didn't even notice the lack of other adjustments as I didn't feel I needed to change anything apart from moving to seat forward a few inches.

But as said above everyone prefer different positions ( no pun intended ) etc

Back in the day, I had a mk2 Astra GTE 8, it was and still is the most comfortable car I've ever driven. Working in the motor trade, I've driven more than my fair share of cars & supercars, nothing gets close to that 130,000 mile Astra for this 6'5" petrolhead!

From an industry insider who gets to see such stuff in detail, the Japanese are best at this, Mazda in particular its part of their key design phylosify from the outset of a cars design. The japanese are RHD to start with don't forget wink

The worst is usually German brands where a RHD version is the pain the ass to make, so anything will do.

I love the driving positon of the Sierra Cosworth, low seats, full shoulder height recaros, no wieght on your legs & the steering wheel nice and close to your chest. Modern cars are horrid, and being 6'4 I find it difficult to get comfortable in most cars, the mrs Focus being a prime example of the driving position being far too high, with the pedals too close.

My BMW is good, 8/10, but lacks the steering wheel reach to make it perfect. The Lotus elise is very nice once you are in, but again being tall and gangly makes it a very ungraceful procedure!

So far I think the MG ZR i owned had the most comfortable driving position for me, could easily drive for 4 hours+ without back ache.
