I was just wondering what oil everybody was using. I have just had my box re conditioned and after much research decided to fill it with Castrol SMX. The box seems fine apart from 1st to 2nd, which is quite notchy, hot or cold it doesnt seem to make any difference. I am aware this is a trait with this box and although not the end of the world i`m sure it could be better. Reading various forums it would appear there is an equal split with what people prefer ie, ATF or SMX. I know the car came out of the factory with ATF and am aware of the pro`s n cons of both, but was just wondering what everyone on here is using and their experiences.

I have a 93 Chim for the last 9 years and use it fully in the TVR Speed Champs.
I discovered this: http://shop.difflock.com/difflock-evolution-fully-...
A couple of years ago.

I found all the benefits and when I tried some "other gear oil" I regretted it.
I have no connection with them, but just recommend the oil for the LT77.
Good luck

I'm about to fill my LT77 with Castrol SMX this morning, after noting your comments on my post in the Griff section. I've also read conflicting comments on it's merits, will let you know what I think.

Use the difflock stuff as it wads developed specifically for this box. Do not use atf fluid as recommended by Rover as it leads to prtemature wear.

Mt LT77 box was in my Ginetta G33 using difflock resolverd issues of notchyness and I had less whine.
