At least £500,000 apparently.

Also, non-story of the day. 'Jensen almost gets ticket, but doesn't because he had paid and displayed'

DM subeditor without a clue looks up base price of a McLaren.

Finds original price for an F1. (as opposed to current price, which is considerably more)

Prints it. Fail.

They are actually something about £165K plus options, no?

On a positive note, it looks fantastic in black and on those wheels. They're not standard are they?

In these days of the £40k Golf, could you spec a McLaren to £500k from the standard list? I know they do bespoke stuff (I was party to some "were going to charge them £25,000 for that, no £35,000 sounds so much better" conversations around requests for unlisted extras on the SLR, but I mean from the standard options list?

Yes, if you bought an MP4-12C and specified the optional extra two MP4-12Cs smile

Have a play with http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/uk/default.aspx#/...

They look like super lightweight forged wheels in silver to me.

The callipers can be black on either the standard or carbon brakes.

ETA: just checked and you can actually look up Jenson's spec on the "preconfigured cars" button...

I posted a comment on that article saying much the same thing i.e. more like £160k if you'd bothered to check. Right after that, reader's comments were "unavailable" rolleyes
