Greeting, these last few years Ive been on a mission to redesign my 300Zx... this is the latest most radical design Ive come up with and I hope to start milling it out in next few week on my CNC machine.

What do you think and anyone have any suggestions to improve it?

What a waste of bandwidth on that You tube video.

It will never be an exotic, It may be a one-off that in your eyes looks good, but it will always be a Nissan with a home made body kit.

That said, if you want to do it, and you are designing it for yourself, rather than for what people will think of it. Then good on you! Go for it.

I would use a Ferrari Italia for a donor if i was born rich biggrin but the Nissan will have to do for now.
I have no other pictures currently.

I want to make conversions and sell it for profit also. Im sure I can find buyers with the same taste in a large city.

I like the two bodykitted specials in the background... wink

I don't know, it's not really exotic giving it an Alfa grille and afew skirts but if you can convince yourself, that's half the battle and at the end of the day it's for your pleasure, no-one else's.

You've only got one chance at life. If you don't do it, it will always be "I had an idea once, but i didn't do it". But I find the front very Alfa Romeo-ish & the rear Aston Martin-ish. I think it needs to be more original. Is this the first draft? What program did you use to design the car?

The ZX does have lots of horsepower potential for little money, Ive heard of some in the 600rwhp range.
But my main goal is to make an attractive car.

I wasnt too satisfied with my older design so yesterday I spent all day looking for a new bumper... for this design I started out with the Nissan R390 LeMan car for its grill smile and unique shape... then that progressed to an Enzo nose. I used the program Sketchup and import models from their '3d Warehouse'. I basically think of a design and find cars in my memory that match the same curves and styling cues. I used the Alfa for the hood and nose in that yes. Car models can be found in car games, specially NFS. On how to rip them I rather not disclose

I'm seeing more of an MP4-12C in the rear.

As in copied and pasted. hehe

The 300zx is still a great looking car especially in LWB form, good clean paint, lowered a touch and I still think they look really good today.

Actually they look more special to me than some of the "supercars" that are about now. I know in my circle of friends that a clean 300zx/Supra/NSX will get more attention than a boring modern supercar.

Yet you must do what you must do and hope it all goes well for you and you keep us updated with pictures.

You could fit it with Lamborghini Diablo or Nissan R390 headlights though!

You might want to work on tidying up the 3D model first. It just looks like you've hacked apart a load of other models and stuck them together. There's an Alfa grille with a bit of MP4-12C stuck on the side of it. I am assuming that you're not wanting to create a strange feathered car here.

Would you not rather go for something more original than just a mash of different cars thrown into a pot? After all that is what Japanese cars used to be, just rip offs of european design so to turn an original Japanese design into a strange rehash of a euro car seems a bit odd.

As always it's your car so the final decision lies with you but personally I'd want it to have a bit more of a personal touch.

I also quite like the 300ZX styling

smile I kept the steel bars to the spoiler too because it would be a great feature to have one day.

They were designed to look like Ferrari's in my opinion... in bottom of my post here, I compare models in pictures.

I havent had the chance of trying the stock headlights yet but definitely will biggrin

I think what I made is original, but I think to make a new pure design one has to be living in a cave and not be influenced by the cars on the road today. I used to design by hand before but now I can imagine a design, pull shapes from cars and have the computer carve out a model for me on foam. I may have to patch holes and parts out after a rough 3D model is milled out.

Edit
I just noticed the BMW 8 series is another car that resembles it.

You're not trying to put a Ferrari V8 in your Punto then?

Wasn't 'chassis' his login name?

They really are fantastic cars if stupidly thirsty. Great to drive as well. The short wheelbase ones can be a bit "exciting" but the LWB ones can really accelerate hard and corner hard and if it wasnt for the steering it would compare very well to many contempory supercars.

I also posted this in another forum, I know the model is choppy, but focus on the design.

Would it be crazy to put motorcycle engines in the front and back to get the same high pitch sound?

No original styling ideas then? You just seem to picking panels off other cars and chucking them in hoping it'll work

Not going to get much encouragement on here unfortunately.

However, if bodyfiller and fiberglass are your thing, I say go for it. The results will most likely be hilarious.

I'm still baffled by the mess of polygons in the 3D render. Everything is supposed to join up not jut out like it's about to fall apart.

Would be interesting if that's what he plans to feed to the CNC machine. Unless he's after something from Carmageddon then it's spot on.
