Would a 96 BMW 525TDS manual be any good as a track day car? Your suggestions please

Highly unlikely. It is a very heavy car and will wear out discs and pads, tyres and suspension parts at a phenomenal rate. It would probably make more sense to buy something small, cheap and light and trailer it to track days behind the BMW than to use it.

Would be different, it depends what your definition of "good" is.

Heavy car , low down torque (small power band) , lack of revs etc stack against it but hey it's RWD and would be a good laugh I wouldn't chuck aload of cash at one as a track car though.

No but it would make a brilliant tow car for a proper trackcar

i did a skid control day at rockingham in my chipped 530d sport ( 230bhp) and loved it! dont think it would be ideal for trackdays tho, it handled very very well but not exactly sporty
