Hi,

I'm contemplating getting rid of the OH's Punto which she and I detest (but only one of us has to cover 15kpa in!).

She isn't particularly keen on small cars, three door 1.2 etc, and would prefer something bigger, 5 doors, diesel, and faster.

I've set a relatively loose limit of £200 per month for a replacement. Deposit / fuel / tax / insurance are not a concern. I'd be loathed to spend too much more unless it was something really special.

The good thing is, I know she won't get the diesel A4 that I'm sure she's craving, but having pointed out the really very cheap offers on MX5s recently, I might have swayed her. This may be the last opportunity we get to own a 2 seat convertible for some time! The 1.8 isn't going to set the world on fire, but should be noticeably better than the Punto.

The other thing I saw was a 1.3 jtdm mito, but I don't think she'll approve.

Anyway, sometimes some fantastic deals pop up so I'd be interested on feedback.on both cars above and any other suggestions. Probably a 2 year 12-15kpa agreement.

Cheers

Isn't the MiTo just a Punto underneath anyway?

What sort of deposit are you thinking about? This will be the main determinant of what you get around the £200 a month mark! We had a sort of similar "need comfier car" mission last year for my g/f when her mileage went up and the Citroën C1 no longer made sense, she ended up settling on a BMW 116d for which she is paying about £207 a month IIRC.

Most deposits seem to be around the 3x monthly payment amount, I wouldn't want to pay much over £1k

You've long missed the boat on stonking PCP deals IMO. £200PCM doesn't seem to go anywhere these days, whereas three years ago that sort of money would get you a CTR or Octavia VRS if you shopped around.
