As the partnerships may be getting the gist that they are not very popular, hows about some constructive suggestions that might swing things around a bit.

I would like to see & would welcome the following, I assume much of this practice used to be conducted by the trafpol but as they are very rarely seen hows about you guys do it instead.

1) Stop concentrating on speed, it's not what causes accidents though its a factor in the end result.

2) Educate those most likely to have accidents, eg young inexperienced drivers, put them on hazard awareness courses, safe braking, basic but life saving stuff. I'm sure getting in contact with driver training schools would be a good source of candidates.

3) Target regular users of roads known to be accident spots, with junction awareness info, literally stop & speak to people, what to do how to do it etc.

4) Teach people how to overtake safely, its not rocket science but I'd guess 60% of drivers could not tell you if it was safe or not to pass in a safe situation.

5) Put signs up instead of cameras saying blindingly obvious stuff like "dodgy junction ahead be aware" or "60% of all accidents occur at T junctions your approaching one now" I know thats what road signs are for but as no-one has read the HWC since they passed their test it might wake a few of em up.

6) Sort those HGV drivers out on the M6 the ones who could'nt give a **** about pulling out on people, I'll take some video the next time I'm passing through & post it up for you if you'd like.

7) Stop doing people for slightly over the limit unless it really is dangerous ie outside schools at 4pm approaching the crossing etc

No doubt some more suggestions to come from the PH collective, lets keep it constructive guys.

I'd think you'd find that 80% of people are now too scared to overtake on anything other than a dual carriageway!

The safety camera partnership will not even entertain those ideas as they do not involve a camera and the potential of a lot of money.

Shame really

I think it's more like everyone in the country minus the PH population (and my dad)

Paulie safespeed's forum has section dedicated to suggestions for motivating driver improvements. My husband, a cousin BiB and one other family member are posting there fairly regularly.

The family's teacher has also placed a THINK! suggestion thread opn his Nonny section!

some of those old adverts which people remember were good and should be re-run on prime time TV! Most of them did cover cpt's driver information/refresh suggestions - according to the "memory laners" on there!

How about we all do HC test every couple of years - as they introduce new signs. And because manufacturers introduce new safety features year on year - what about periodic training courses to make sure we actually know how to use them properly! I will bet most of these posers with flash cars do not!
